What are the coating methods of waterborne industrial paint?

The besmear of waterborne industrial paint includes brush besmear commonly, roll besmear, spray paint and dip besmear, the element that affects construction method includes commonly: the structure of film thickness of investment cost, running cost, paint, exterior requirement and besmear object. Reducing VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions is the impetus for improving construction methods. The construction method has an effect on the amount of solvent required and the solvent recovered. The solvent or thinner used in waterborne industrial paints is water. The evaporation rate of moisture in the paint film will directly affect the effect of the paint film after construction, and also affect the coating substrate. For example, if the substrate is ordinary carbon steel, slow evaporation of water will lead to corrosion of the steel. The base material is wood. The slow evaporation of moisture causes the wood fibers to swell and the spines and hairs to become apparent.

(1) Brush. All kinds of paint: narrow handle paint brush, wide handle paint brush, long handle paint brush, short handle paint brush, nylon paint brush, polyester paint brush, etc. Viscosity is the key to paint brush. The viscosity of waterborne coating will affect the effect of paint film after painting. If the viscosity is too high, remove excessive waterborne paint from the container with a paint brush; If the viscosity is too low, the waterborne paint on the paintbrush will be reduced. Paint requires low viscosity, if the viscosity is too low, easy to flow and flow hanging.

Water-based coatings are usually non-Newtonian fluids with some thixotropic properties, and the leveling performance of paint film after brushing is slightly worse than that of solvent-based coatings. Brush coating is not recommended for high decoration requirements.

(2) roll coating. Roller coating refers to the manual roller coating construction method, is a very fast manual construction method. Widely used in architectural coatings for walls and ceilings. A variety of rolls and roll coverings can be used to draw different patterns according to the shape of different coverings on the rolls.

Viscosity requirements are similar to brush coating structures. The film will crack when the coating is applied with rollers. As the roll moves, the film is stretched and the film flows in an extended fashion. Due to the unbalanced pressure, the membrane splits at different times, leaving a ribbed surface. Some films move away from the gap between the rolls and extend into the fibers. As the roller moves, the fibers are pulled, making the surface area of the coating very small. However, if there is not enough time for leveling at low viscosity, the indentation will remain in the coating.

(3) Spraying. General water-based coating is suitable for spraying process, but its rheological problem is more prominent than brush coating. The efficiency of spraying can be improved by appropriately adjusting rheological properties with thickeners to facilitate dilution. It is found that the rheological property changes too much during the dilution process, which is related to the non-solution system of waterborne coating itself.

The film of waterborne industrial paint dries slowly, but the opposite is true in the process of spraying. Paint can dry and cak near the nozzle of the spray gun and build up to form a blockage. If the paint dries quickly after spraying from the nozzle, it is difficult to form a continuous film upon reaching the workpiece surface.

In the process of waterborne industrial paint spraying, the atomization of coating is very important. The atomization effect directly affects the coating and film forming effect. Spray can improve the spraying ability, smooth coating, adapt to high viscosity coating, reduce spraying time and atomization loss, thus improving material utilization.

Water is colorless, transparent, odorless, non-toxic and harmless, and is ubiquitous. The freezing point is 0 and the boiling point is 100, so water-based paints should be kept above 0. Water, chemica
